Two cases of congenital jejunal atresia

Abstract

|
Two premature infants were admitted in the 3 days and 4 days of life with frequent bile stained vomiting and epigastric distention to Han Yang university hospital.
Air distention of the stomach, duodenum and proximal small bowel was noted on plain roentgenogram of the abdomen.
At laparotomy under the general anesthesia, it was noted complete obstruction of the jejunum by jejunal atresia on 10 cm. distal to Tritz ligament. Resection of the atretic segment, one case with aside to side anastorlosis and another case with end to end anastomsis were carried out.
One patient had no problems with obstruction or vomiting and was discharged under the good conditions. But another case expired in postoperative 26 hours due to respiratory distress.
